Atelier Choutte, Nyons
Pietro Finazzi paints exclusively outdoors. With all his senses he feels and perceives the present atmosphere, immerses himself in the colours and scents, in wind, rain, snow and sun. He only paints when his spirits are at unity with the surrounding atmosphere. Thus he states: "I do not search for an image, the image calls me."
Pietro Finazzi avoids panoramic viewpoints as we can see in his unconventional compositions. There is no striving for effect. His paintings leave things open and thus invite the observer to receive and to continue the act of creation.
Probably a vision can never be completely expressed in our materialistic world. It is the pain of an artist that he has to endure the comparison of his vision with its realization. For the observer, the experience is the other way round: the contemplation of the painting evokes in him a notion of the vision.
